Visitation/Funeral info for Eston Slim Hawthorn: VISITATION: Sunday, 4p-7p at Claybars Funeral Home in Bridge City. FUNERAL: Monday, 10a at Winfree Baptist Church (Hwy 62). Graveside to follow after lunch at Zion Hill Cemetery on Hwy 96, just south of Jasper. Pawpaw was a loving man, and our FAMILY celebrates his life. He was a WWII veteran who proudly served this country, and honorably discharged after the military learned of his brother, Harvey Hawthorn being KIA (Belgium 1945). A true Saving Private Ryan story. Eston married his love upon returning, Osa Lee Weatherford, and their marriage was blessed with Susan (Walsh), Douglas, and William. While raising a family in Bridge City, Eston served several years as a volunteer fireman with the BCFD, and ultimately retired from FINA in 1985. Eston was a longtime member if Winfree Baptist Church, and was always around to lend a helping hand. To say I love this man, and will so miss him is so hard say. He was so much a part of my life, and I am blessed with the Family I have due to this MAN. In March of 1991, Eston and Osa Lee (Mawmaw and Pawpaw to me) brought the love of my life, Brandi Walsh Ellison, to Mill Creek Park on Sam Rayburn Lake for Spring Break. I immediately fell in love with Brandi, and her grandparents. Within a few hours of meeting Pawpaw, he got the biggest kick out of me almost tripping over a log at his campsite. Come to find out this log was a 47lb Opp catfish he had just gotten off his trot line. . On June 17, 1995, Brandi and I were married, and He was officially my PawPaw by marriage. Weve had some good times over the last 23 years, and those are the times Ill lean on from here on out.... Until we meet again Pops... I LOVE YOU!
