Vitamix 2nd weekend: 1. Oatmeal. In everything. Vitamix - TopicsExpress

Vitamix 2nd weekend: 1. Oatmeal. In everything. Vitamix grinds it to the point that its powdered and it thickens every smoothie. 2. Im quickly finding that the demarcation between veggie cocktail and fruit smoothy is an artificial distinction. Carrots blend extremely well into almost anything (versus the way Campbells uses them in soups where they overpower everything.) A few leaves of spinach are easily concealed in anything. Putting some bell pepper in a fruit smoothie doesnt hurt it. 3. A LOT of spinach? Turns everything green and makes everything taste like spinach. The only countervailing force in the vitamix universe is strawberries, which turn everything red and makes everything taste like strawberries. If I ever feel the urge to make a spinach and strawberry smoothie, Ill let you know which one has the greater mojo. 4. This is actually making me want to rent an apartment in dayton, instead of staying in a hotel. Why? So I can use my vitamix during the week. I have no doubt every measure of my health would improve immensely if I could blend at least one vegetarian meal per day. The idea that I want to create a new housing arrangement for a blender just goes to show the cult-like gravitational pull of the vitamix. 5. Nutrition? I figure Im starting from the standpoint of perhaps the worst diet imaginable. So, anything is an improvement. Even if I went to an all-smoothie diet, which is probably not great for you, itd still be better than what I eat otherwise. 6. Future: Im going to look into powdered multivitamin. Ive heard very, very bad things about peoples ability to absorb nutrients from a standard pill-form multivitamin. Also, maybe buy liquid fish oil for Omega 3? Probably better than standard fish oil supplements in waxy capsule form. Vitamix: No regrets on this purchase at all.
