Volunteer -- Its too cold to just sit there, so go help out. - MLK Breakfast this Sat. They always need extra hands, esp. with clean up. (head over there to eat around 9, listen to the program, and help out) - 4H Program at our school -- help after school for an hour. - Math & Movement Family Fun Night. Jan. 15. (high schoolers needed) A Math & Movement Family Fun Night is a high energy math and reading event that increases parental engagement. Children use fun floor mats and wall charts to learn math and reading concepts through movement. This enjoyable event boosts kids confidence in math and reading skills—and parents have fun too! Math & Movement is a kinesthetic, multi-sensory approach to teaching math that incorporates physical exercise, stretching, cross-body move­ments, and visually-pleasing floor mats. Math & Movement increases fluency and deepens conceptual understanding of the math concepts included in the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS). The Family Fun Night will be at BJM Elementary School on January 15th. 4:30-5:30 set up and training of volunteers 5:30-6:00 pizza 6:00-7:30 activities for children 7:30-8:00 clean-up WHY VOLUNTEER? · Watch students learn and practice skills using kinesthetic strategies. · Engage with parents and help them boost their confidence in tutoring their children. · Learn new tools for increasing learning. BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING All volunteers receive the: · Math & Movement Training Manual (e-book). · Both the Instructor Guide and Student Workbook for the Multiply With Me, Learning to Multiply Can Be Fun Multiplication Set (e-books). · Math & Movement training that teaches kinesthetic strategies for developing fluency and deep conceptual understanding of math concepts that align with the CCLS.
