Volunteer Firefighter Steve Miller received an Exemplary Service Award tonight in recognition of his life saving effort of a person who had cardiac arrest at a timber event. Firefighter Miller was volunteering for first aid standby at the event. Through his dedication to training, clear thinking, and quick action he was able to apply an AED, deliver a shock, and restart his heart, thus saving his life. Citizen Heroism Awards were presented to Mike Joyner, Mike Phillips, and Mark Wagle for their efforts in providing CPR until the AED arrived. Molalla Fire Paramedics and Life Flight crew members were also recognized for their role in providing advanced care and transport of the patient to the hospital.
