Votes from women! The great womens debate is happening now. 26m30 into this video, the BT speaker sets out her reasons for voting NO, clearly and calmly. They are: - INERTIA - I dont see any reason to vote YES - BLIND FAITH - I truly believe that Scotland is better and stronger as part of the UK IS THAT THE CASE FOR NO?! Apparently so. She also says the problems we have are not answered by Independence. So we do have problems, then. What are they answered by? Better governments with better policies, and the political will to make the changes that they want to. Hang about. Is she saying well get better governments from the UK than we will when the people of Scotland can elect their own government? How does that work? Is she saying that Westminsters policies will be better suited to Scotland than the policies we decide for ourselves? Where has she been for the past thirty years? Is she saying that the UK government has more political will than the Scottish government? She might be right - it seems happy to ride rough-shod over the will of the people. What she doesnt mention is political POWER. You can have all he political will in the world, and the best possible policies, but if you dont have the political power, you can;t make those policies work. Westminster has had the policies, the will and the power to make enormous changes in this country. Weve seen the poll tax, the bedroom tax, the welfare cuts, and other Westminster policies fully implemented in Scotland. Have they solved the problems? NO!
