Vyasa-puja 2014 report Dear devotees Dandavat Pranams I would like to give a brief report on the activities of HH Jayapataka Swami during his 65th Sri Vyasa-puja festival at Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir. On April 9th 2014, HH JPS arrived to Kolkatta airport at noon time coming from Tirupati where he was leading the South Indian Safari with more than 150 devotees. He was received by many devotees at the airport. After that HH JPS came to Sri Jagannath Mandir at Rajpur which is 15 minutes away from Mayapur, At that very holy place are the very old Deities of Sri Jagannath Baladeva and Subhadra from the times of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Gurumaharaja arrived like about 5 pm took darshan then he went to take some rest after which he took bath and came in a procession to Mayapur Dham. I saw many devotees even coming by motorcycles leading the procession from Jagannath Mandir till the Nama-hatta building where thousands of devotees were waiting, Guru Maharaja upon his arrival greeted some of us and was garlanded then he was taken up the chariot where Srila Prabhupadas Murti who was been served and fanned by devotees while very loud kirtans and bhajans were been played by many devotees from Namahatta. Amongst the devotees were HH Gauranga Prema Swami, HH Bhaktisidhanta Swami and many others. There were hundreds of ladies making 2 lines each as per tradition with coconut kailash on their heads where others had plates with Pradeep leading the procession. There were also a pair of elephants towards Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir which was all decorated with beautiful lights and mandalas on the path full of flowers and beautiful Vedic style designs until the gates of the temple and Srila Prabhupada park. HH JPS then entered to the temple to offer his obeisances to Srila Prabhupada and the Deities of Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Sri Panca Tattva Bhagavan and Sri Narasimhadeva. Thereafter, Guru Maharaja went to the stage to give a speech thanking all devotees and explaining many things while some stage programs were held at that time. The day after means on the 10th of April Was the Adivas ceremony, as usual very well organized where Guru Maharaja wears a turban and a special bracelets from South India reserved for Kings and Great Personalities. He gave a lecture on the meaning of Vyasa-puja and how he humbly accept all this things too offer it to the Guru-parampara. The Main day of Sri Vyasa-puja started when at almost 10 am HH JPS GM was brought to the temple room where he offered obeisances to the Deities and had special darshan while thousands were in cheers welcoming Guru Maharaja for his 65ht Sri Vyasa-puja celebrations. The main event was done at Sri Panca Tattva Mandir. Guru Maharaja gave a lecture first, then after that homages by senior devotees started until 12 noon when Guru maharaja goes for bhoga offering to Srila Prabhupada of hundreds of preparations as it is usual for this occasion where many devotees like to make special offerings. Then after GM came back to the stage where his Vyasasana was very well decorated having above him the Murties of Srila Bhaktisidhanta Saraswati Thakura Prabhupada and His Divine Gurudeva Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. 2 more offerings were offered then the official ceremonies starts with the ritualistic program of pada-puja with many ingredients according to the tradition. There after many invited devotees and Guru maharaja God brothers we invited to Srila Prabhupadas floor at the lotus bldg. to honor Kamada Ekadasi Prasadam. In the afternoon at 4 pm started the stage program at Srila Prabhupadas park, where more offerings were done basically in Bengali language, while after that, special stage programs were performed by the devotees who participated in South India Safari under the guidance of Marici Prabhu. Many beautiful dances were performed, been the most favorite, The Shyam dance, depicting the Rasalila of Krsna and the Gopies, and the last performance was the fire dance. Devotees appreciated these performances as gave a special touch to the night program and showed the skills of many devotees on the service of Krsna and Guru. All dancers were very nicely decorated in a very opulent way with special makeup and outfits. After there were many songs performance but mainly the one which was divided into groups as per each language mainly English, Spanish, Russian, Malayalam, Chinese etc. according the to the nationalities of the participants of the devotees in that very unique tour for the main holy places of South India. While HH JPS is in Mayapur he also participates in many important meetings mainly those related to the TOVP (Temple of Vedic Planetarium), during the Vyasa-puja HH JPS requested all devotees to please help in building this temple by donating or reserving according to the different schemes like one square foot or golden brick accordingly, and promote this temple as much as possible. This was one of his main requests. On the 12th on Dwadasi we had a special presentation of a movie on the life of HH JPS which I have been preparing since many years ago including many rare footages taken few years back by ITV from Bombay where Guru maharaja talks about Mayapur from the very beginning till todays TOVP project and touring Mayapur in each department including Sri Yogapitha the appearance place of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu. This is a temporal presentation as this was edited in a record time of 3 days in order to be possible to make it during this festival and show it to Guru maharaja, He wasnt able to attend it personally but I came to his room and on each time he had dinner or breakfast I was showing him part of it as its a movie of 1:40 minutes, been this the part one and is maybe about 5 parts for now, where many other speakers would have a special DVD presentation of their appreciation and remembering the early days with HH JPS. We have interviewed more than 30 speakers so far in order to make this movie possible. Among the speakers are: HH Gopal Krishna Goswami, Bhakti Caru Swami, Lokannath Swami, Mukunda Goswami, Hridayananda Das Goswami. Bhakti Vikas Swami, Bhakti Chaitanya Swami, Radhanath Swami, Cadramauli Swami, Bhakti Purushotama Swami, Chaitanya Chandra Prabhu the first Guru-disciple of HH JPS from Russia, Dato Sri Dr. Vaitilingham, the Vice Chairman of World Hindu Federation he is from Malaysia, also Their graces Jannanivas and Pankajanghri prabhus have their participation in this movie. The main highlight for this documentary I would say where the words of HDG Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda maharaja from Sri Caitanya Saraswath Math, The Acarya from HDG Srila Sridhara Swami Maharaja math, who already left his body, but at the time of when I visited him he mentioned, and its recorded here that, the best news in this world was that the health of Jayapataka Maharaja is improving as he is the best vaishnava in the world as we have seen by his activities, he is one of the best Vaishnava in the word. Also we have the words of HDG Srila Bhakti Valabha Tirtha Maharaja from Sri Caitanya Guadiya Math the Acarya of Madhava Maharaja Math who turned 90 years old on Rama-navami, and Srila Bodayan maharaja from Sri Gopinath Gaudiya math that was founded by HDG Srila Bhakti Promode Puri Maharaja. Many others will appear in the second part as Bhaktisidhanta Swami and all the sanyassa disciples of HH JPS whom we were able to meet and say few words about our beloved Guru Maharaja. Yesterday on the 13th of April, Gurumaharaja had mainly darshans and meetings with many special visits like the one by the Member of Parliament and former minister and Supreme court advocate Mr. A. B. Mukherjee who came to have darshan with a group of like 6 politicians and to seek the blessings of the Vaishnavas and of Guru maharaja. Here Guru maharaja told them to please always help devotees in case any need is there for the TOVP as always in India these kind of assistance are needed. Many also came to see Guru maharaja, like the special Gita courses devotees from Sankirtan Department headed by Venudhari das. He also gave morning lecture of Bhagavatam at the temple. Today on the 14th GM woke up a bit late as he was a bit tired had breakfast while I was showing him the last part of the movie and then had meeting about the TOVP by Sridam Prabhu (GKG), who is the IT in charge under Guru Maharaja for the TOVP presentations, while we were at the meeting Guru Maharaja asked me to invite Jana Mataji who is a film maker to also join us in this presentation as he wants to engage her in assisting Sridam prabhu in this service. Guru Maharaja was giving his inputs and guidance to this important aspect for the TOVP. Later on, Guru Maharaja will go to meet some of the committee members. He was shown some video presentation and report on the big temple which is in construction. Today after lunch HH JPS will leave to Kolkata and stay at Nitai Caran prabhus house nearby the airport in as tomorrow morning to Delhi to the IIAC (ISKCON Indian Advisory committee) and ICC. Meetings as well as EIDC (Eastern India Divisional Council Meetings). After Delhi, HH JPS on the 23rd is going to Chiang Mai in Thailand, Then to Singapore, then to South Korea, Then transiting Singapore to go to London and then back to India via Damodardesh.
