WA - 12yo Arabian Mare - Blackie - $300 (Chewelah) Blackie Born June of 2006 (12 yrs old) 14.3 hh Black Arabian Mare Sale price: $300 Blackie is a sweet but sensitive mare. With her friendly nature, she was easily halter broke at a young age but after one bad incident in the halter she still remembers. Unfortunately she was never haltered again after that. With time this could easily be remedied. We did a little desensitizing with her to the halter and lead rope and she was receptive. This mare will bond strongly with someone. Despite her initial hesitance to come in and visit us, the volunteer who evaluated her had this to say about Blackie; She is just a gem, what horse lets a a stranger lead her around without being haltered or on a lead rope within a few minutes of meeting her? She would follow me anywhere if I clucked and motioned with my hand, I didnt use treats or anything else, just told her how nice she was and scratched her. This was an amazing discovery considering Blackie has never been trained to join up - shes just a natural. Shes a very willing horse and likes to please. Shes great with being touched around her face, ears and body, and even loved nuzzling up to her evaluator, she just wasnt sure about the halter. With a little time and patience this beautiful gal will be an easy and rewarding mare! Blackies knee is a bit offset but she moves out without a hitch. The vet whos seen her felt she would never be able to handle the excessive 25 & 50 mile distances of the endurance sport, but she could be a great trail horse capable of doing a great walk/trot/canter.
