WALMART EXECS ADJUST SALES TO EARN $8.42 MILLION IN CASH - TopicsExpress

WALMART EXECS ADJUST SALES TO EARN $8.42 MILLION IN CASH INCENTIVES When the GOP-led Congress cut food stamps by 5% last year, it had an unintended consequence. Walmart sales were hurt. In fact, cutting food stamps cut its US sales growth from 2.03% to 1.8% in 2014. Missing the 2% growth target meant the CEO and five other executives would lose cash incentives totaling $8.4 million. So, Walmart discounted the lost sales due the food stamp cuts. And, presto, smiley faces abound in the executive suite. In the aisles, however, Walmarts customers are still trying to stretch their food stamp budgets to cover a 5% shortfall. Austerity for all; prosperity for a few -- the newest GOP jingle.
