WARNING.....GRAPHIC CONTENT Good afternoon...this morning we received an sms from one of our supporters informing us of what she thought was an injured donkey at the side of the 611 bypass road UAQ area...we immediately went to the area and eventually found the donkey and were and still in despair to what awaited :( The donkey had sadly only just passed away...possibly up to 1 hour earlier...but she had no signs of external injury but we could see she was heavily pregnant :( her back legs were tied, she had a rope harness around her head and was heavily lactating, producing milk...we had no choice but to try to remove the baby in a desperate hope of life...we were too late...the amniotic sac was external and when we tried to go internal it ruptured due to being friable... the baby had died also :( she had external knife wounds all around her rear and had clearly been dumped by the side of the road...it has deeply disturbed and devastated us therefore has left us little choice than to approach the relevant UAQ authorities and demand that a welfare act is implemented to protect the forever growing donkey population and to protect those owned by local farmers...we have 6 months worth of statistics, photographic and video evidence, documented data on their condition and well being...whilst we expected and wanted longer to collate these figures, this incident has changed our dynamics and we feel now is the time to act...we will share this post with The Donkey Sanctuary and The Brooke in the hope of raising awareness and commencement of a campaign to protect these helpless animals...the baby would of just slept away and know little but we cannot even bare to think or consider the horrific, painful death that the poor mother has had to endure...our hearts are broken and take little solace of knowing she is in a far better place now...may god rest their souls...PLEASE SHARE :(
