WARNING >> The parameters in which this advice was given is controversial, however, its some of the best advice Ive ever been given. ...Couple of weeks ago, one of my homeboys that graduated highschool with me made a rare appearance at GOOD VIBES @ Indulge VSP Lounge. As we were chopping it up, a beautiful woman walked by. Casually, I said I always liked her style. Damn, shes fine!. My homie said You should holla at her. I was like, Man, shes married. Im not on that. Im not that kind of guy. Then, my home boy gave me some advice about her that you can apply to every aspect of life. He said... NEVER TAKE YOURSELF OUT OF THE RACE. You dont know her situation. Her marriage might be ending tomorrow. She might be in the process of divorce as we speak. You Dont know her man or anything about her...But youre willing to potentially miss out on something because youve mentally talked yourself out of it before you had the chance. Youre not doing the right thing. Youre doing yourself wrong. If that woman is fine where shes at, it is her obligation to tell you & turn you down... Not yours! ...So never take yourself out the race before it begins Now, I had no real desire to try & get with this woman. I was just having guy talk & meant my initial statement casually, but Im glad he responded the way that he did. Just think of how often we do that (take ourselves out the race) on a day to day basis. How many times did you forgo on asking the boss for a new position because Brian has been has more seniority? How many times have you decided not to apply for a job because you lacked on of the *written requirements? How many times have you decided not to establish a friendship/partnership because of what you heard about them? You owe it to yourself to give life a try. Youre cheating yourself if you dont. The worst that can happen, is it doesnt pan out they way youd desire.... But you turn a 50/50 success rate (or better) in to a 100% fail rate by not trying.
