WASHINGTON (WUSA*9) -- Metropolitan Police detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred overnight outside an apartment building in southeast DC. Police say they received a report of a shooting in the 2600 block of Birney Place around 1:47 Tuesday morning. Officers responded to the scene where they found a man suffering from a gun shot wound to the head. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. So far police have not released any information on possible suspects or motive for the shooting. The victims name has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing.
