WAYS TO SUPPORT VICTIMS OF UTTARAKHAND DISASTER......please read and share it. The screams of a motherless child in a rescue camp, biscuits and dry rice the solace for those hungry and people coming in body bags are haunting most of us who are viewing the tragedies of the Uttarakhand devastation. A natural devastation of this magnitude hasn’t happened in over eighty-six years! My heart goes out to all those who are suffering and so many of us wish to help those in need. As Indians, as people who feel, and as those fortunate to escape devastation we have the opportunity to come together and bring out best in us to support all the victims. Here is how you can help all those in need: a. Giving to Charity: All those who have survived the tragedy need resources, whether in hospitals or rescue camps. While relief through the military is being disbursed the conditions in the camp are dismal. Twitteratis are reporting that in rescue camps the supply for food is far outreaching the demand with most children going hungry for hours if not days. By giving even a small amount you can make a big difference to those who are immediately in need. Following are some organizations that have already disbursed funds: - Prime Minister’s Relief Fund Press release about the funds being sent out to Uttarakhand Link for donation: https://pmnrf.gov.in/ - State Minister’s Relief Fund Press release about the funds being sent out to flash flood victims Link for donation: Looks like currently funding is routed through PM’s fund b. Supporting those on the ground: As stories of devastation emerges so do stories of human will to help those. From our army jawaans who are deployed in the region to shopkeepers who are handing goods to all those around rescue camps. Please do applaud the efforts of those on the ground. Your recognition will continue to encourage them to be the super-stars that they are! Here are some stories to inspire: - Heroes in the time of need - Our military support c. Spread the word and unite together: Technology has given us a lot more potential to help those in need. Everything from using Google spreadsheet to find people to tweeting/facebooking about the ways to help can make a huge difference. All of these initiatives will build the momentum for a community coming together. Your country and your people need you. This is your time to help!
