WE HAVE SCHEDULED THE TRANSPLANT SURGERY FOR MONDAY, AUGUST 18TH AT BAYLOR MEDICAL CENTER IN DALLAS! Dad and Derek check in on Friday, August 15th for all the pre-op festivities. This has been a long, hard road and is far from over but we are so thankful to be moving in the right direction. This has been a hard process! I would have gladly (without a second thought) offered my liver to save my dads life but there are no words to describe how grateful we are for Dereks sacrifice. Derek was originally told he was not a suitable candidate after tests showed that his liver had 30% fat. After pleading with the doctors they allowed him four months to lose almost 30lbs and then they would retest. Derek accepted the challenge and not only lost the weight but reduced the fat to 0%. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!! We jokingly say in our family .... Thank you for staying fit and healthy we will be needing half of your liver ... lol... Some days you just need to laugh:))) On a serious note ... God is awesome!!!! I think about how everything was orchestrated and it is incredible. Those of you that know me know I AM NOT SAPPY but my husband is amazing and we are so blessed that God placed him in our lives. Stevie and I are moved by the love and compassion you have shown our dad and entire family. We are thankful for your prayers and ask that you continue to remember us.
