WE SHOULD BE DOING THIS! Executives should be quaking in their boardrooms that a mob might be coming for them. We need to remember that the social safety net, and the great bargain that created the middle class wasnt a gift, it was part of the terms of a peace treaty with an elite that really feared a popular revolt could sweep them from power. The decline of the middle class, the race to the bottom on wages and benefits, the outsourcing of jobs, the attacks on pensions and health-care - theres a direct correlation with the decline in the fear of the elite for the rest of us. We are narcotized and pimped and the message that there is no choice but a steady downward trajectory in our lifestyles and rights and security and all of it is only true if we believe it.
