WEDNESDAY, May 7 Colossians 1:15. He is the image of the invisible God. Paul’s description of the supremacy of Christ is, for me, deeper and richer than our creeds and other statements of faith. It begins with the powerful statement that Jesus is the image of God, the firstborn of all creation. When I first came to The Episcopal Church as a young woman, I was fascinated by its traditions, liturgy, and history. I explored the prayer book and began to fit the liturgical seasons into the rhythms of my own life. Then I discovered a new word: incarnation. At first its meaning was simply something to memorize: the embodiment of God the Son in human flesh as Jesus Christ. Slowly its meaning began to take root in my heart.
