WEEKEND WATCH 25: Choosing To Die If I can choose the life I want to live, can I also choose the way I want to die? This edition of the Weekend Watch will help you find answers to this question. A very interesting documentary starring the famous fantasy novelist Terry Pratchett follows the life of one terminally ill person who wishes to end his life. Pratchett, as an Alzheimers patient himself, embarks on this quest to find answers to many questions lingering on his mind. With the aim to shape his own opinion, the documentary is refreshing as it does not try to preach but probes the viewer to consider these issues. What is important is to understand the underlying principle- our right to choice and personal liberty. How far is it justified to exercise your freedom to exercise your rights and choice and what are the limitations that can be placed on our own decisions? How far are the right to live and die linked with the concept of dignity? Go ahead and give this video a watch to decide if a life of suffering is truly better than a dignified end. P.S: For those who may be uncomfortable with watching death, you could skip the end of this documentary which shows Pratchett follow the man to a Swiss clinic where he ends his life and the man passes away in a cold, unflinching manner on camera. youtube/watch?v=slZnfC-V1SY
