He recently has been in Uzbekistan filming additional scenes for Angel of Death, directed by Bakhodir Yuldashev. A new film for Armand, entitled CHARLIE MANTLE will begin filming November 1. The Golden Door International Film Festival, in Jersey City, New Jersey, honored Armand Assante with their Lifetime Achievement Award last Sunday. Scenes for Angel of Death were also filmed in Los Angeles. Directed by Bakhodir Yuldashev, the film stars Armand Assante, Hugh Mun, Ali Khan, and Matthias Hues. ===================================== NEW PROJECT ANNOUNCED ===================================== CHARLIE MANTLE - to be directed by Fred Carpenter, written by Fred Carpenter and Edward C. Wahl, and in addition to Armand will star Sean Young, Robert Clohessy, Paul Vario, Jackie Martling, Mitchell Waters, Donna DeCianni, and Robert Funaro as Charlie Mantle. Principal photography begins November 1, 2013. ===================================== ARMANDS UPCOMING PROJECTS, IN DEVELOPMENT OR PRE-PRODUCTION (9 total) ===================================== ---CARPET BOY - The true story of a young boy who was sold into slavery at a carpet factory in Pakistan in the 1980s. The film is written by Farrukh Dhondy and will be directed by Giles Nuttgens for Lucid Pictures. ---DUEL - Armand announced on August 24,2013 in The Hollywood Reporter that hes been offered a role in this film: Theres a Russian feature project in which Ive been asked to play [Alexander] Pushkin. Its called Duel and takes up the idea that had Pushkin lived 20 years longer and associated with [Russian writer Mikhail] Lermontov, they would have had a major impact on the development of Russian society. Theyre asking me to commit to shooting in Moscow in December. ---ESCORT SERVICE - This film also stars Rebecca DeMornay, Clint Howard, Jay Thomas and Marla Gibbs. Scheduled to be filmed in Los Angeles during the first half of 2013, its written and directed by Deborah Romare and Vincent J. Wiley for 19th Day Pictures. Turtle Crossing is now the U.S. distributor for the film. ---THE FIX -- a full length feature film version is planned of the 18 minute short that was released in 2013. Armand Assante, Kresh Novakovic and other actors will reprise their roles, with Ante Novakovic writing and directing. ---FORSAKING ALL OTHERS - The film will be directed by Kevin Breslin, with a script by Kevin Breslin and Deren Getz, from a book by Jimmy Breslin, with a release date scheduled for 2014. Armand has worked previously with Breslin, William Baldwin and Kathy Najimy in the upcoming film BLOWTORCH. ---JEANS GENERATION - Currently in pre-production. According to Armands interview with The Hollywood Reporter, on August 24, 2013, his role in this project is still in negotiations. The plot concerns the 1983 attempted hijacking of Aeroflot Flight 6833 by 7 Soviets who wished to defect to the United States. Armand states he would play a lawyer in the film. The IMDB has him cast in the role of Heydar Aliyev. It will be directed by Nikoloz Khomasuridze for Nikoloz Films. ---LANDLOCKED - In addition to Armand, this will star Bob Balaban and Sandra Bernhard. The writer/director is Steve Becker, and it will be filmed in New York and Rhode Island. The production company is Blue Canoca Entertainment. ---MINKOW is back in production, and will film additional scenes this Fall. Its unknown whether Armand will have additional scenes or if his role in this film has already been completed. Filmed in 2009 in Los Angeles, its the true story of Barry Minkow, who scammed millions from people through a Ponzi scheme. It also stars Mark Hamill, Talia Shire, Ving Rhames, James Caan and Gianni Russo. ---UNTITLED MAFIA FILM -feature film based on the true story of Pauly Lefty in book Mafia Secret Judge and upcoming documentary Seat of Power. Armand Assante will have a starring role. ===================================== ARMANDS COMPLETED FILMS, AWAITING DVD RELEASE (14 total) ===================================== ---ASSUMED KILLER (Formerly titled ASSUMED MEMORIES - filmed March 2012, Fort Lauderdale, Florida) The film stars Barbie Castro as a woman who suffers partial memory loss after a traumatic car crash, and suspects her husband (played by Caspar Van Dien) may be guilty of murder. Armand plays her boss and mentor, and the film also stars Eric Roberts, William R. Moses and Nancy Stafford. The distributor will be Marvista Entertainment. ---BEYOND THE GAME - [Filmed in the of Winter 2012-2013, completed, in final editing process] This production was filmed in New York and also stars Costas Mandylor and comedian Robert Nash, a well-known Robert DeNiro impersonator. ---BLIND PASS (December 2011 and May 2012 - Sarasota, Florida). This thriller stars Danielle White as a young woman who finds out she is slowly going blind, and travels to Ireland to uncover some dangerous and deadly secrets long held by her father (played by Armand Assante), a former military officer. Filmed in Florida and Ireland, it had its debut at a private screening in Sarasota on January 26, 2013. It will be released on the film festival circuit in 2013, then on DVD after that. Directed by Steve Tatone, and written by Tatone and Danielle White, its produced by Midnight Pass Productions. ---BLOWTORCH - This film stars Jared Abrahamson, Lois Robbins, William Baldwin and Kathy Najimy. Robbins plays a recently widowed mother whose oldest son (Abrahamson) is brutally murdered during a drug deal. The detective (Baldwin) assigned to the case doesnt follow up on leads which would solve the murder, prompting her to stalk a group of Brooklyn gangsters to uncover the truth. Abrahamson plays the young victim who gets caught in a life of crime. Najimy plays Robbins neighborhood friend and confidante. Armand Assante co-stars as a drug-dealing kingpin. The movie was filmed in Brooklyn in October-November 2012, during the time of Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath, and is scheduled for a November 2013 release. Kevin Breslin directed from a script he co-wrote with Rosemary Breslin. Joseph Gervase and Adrienne Stern are producing for Me3 Prods. ---A FINE STEP - (Also known as Fandango and A Horse Tale) filming completed January - March, 2010, Memphis, Tennessee. ---THE FIX (September 2012 - New York?) - Crime drama, written and directed by Ante Novakovic. According to the IMDB, the film also stars Kresh Novakovic, Ed Asner, James Earl Jones and Michael Markiewicz. Armand plays the role of Dr. Galante. ---LEY PRIMERA (FIRST LAW) - status updated by Armand in The Hollywood Reporter on August 24, 2013: The last leg of the shooting is in New York now and were hoping [to] attract a major actor for two or three scenes, such as Robert De Niro. Announced February 17, 2012 at a press conference in Argentina. Filming locations took place in Argentina and the United States. The plot concerns the taking of forests which belong to the the native people of Argentina by greedy corporations for their worldwide profit. Diego Rafecas plays twin brothers, one of whom leaves his tribe and gets an education in New York, and the other stays in his native village. Armand will play a native tribesman who is a shaman (holy man) for his people. Directed by Diego Rafecas, its produced by Zazen Producciones and co-produced by California-based Industrial Ent. ---MONTEVIDEO: VIDIMO SE- (formerly known as Montevideo, Bog Te Video. Filmed late April 2012 - Tenerife, Spain and July & August 2012 - Serbia, Montenegro, and Italy) sequel to the Oscar-nominated film, MONTEVIDEO. In this true story of the Serbian football (soccer) team that competed in the First World Cup in the 1920s, Armand plays an American sports entrepreneur named Hotchkins. ---THE NIGHT NEVER SLEEPS (January - February 2012, Long Island, New York) Crime thriller.
