WEST VIRGINIA DIVISION OF TOURISM TO KICK OFF 2015 WITH “YOU REMIND ME OF WEST VIRGINIA” PHOTO CONTEST 20 finalists to be invited to special performance by Wyatt Turner, seven grand-prize winners to be announced AUDIO (attached): Wyatt Turner CHARLESTON, West Virginia (December 31, 2014) – The West Virginia Division of Tourism (GoToWV) will kick off the new year with a photo contest inspired by Pocahontas County native Wyatt Turner’s song “You Remind Me of West Virginia”. “West Virginia holds a natural beauty and a feeling that is special and unparalleled by anywhere else in the world, not only because of its scenery but the humble people who happily live here. I love where I come from and I wanted to wrap a song lyrically around the beauty of West Virginia,” Wyatt Turner said. “I hope my song can inspire others to tell their loved ones about how they’re not only as great as this state but also a face that comforts them just like home. Best of luck to everyone.” The top 20 finalists will be invited to a special performance of “You Remind Me of West Virginia,” by Wyatt Turner, on Valentine’s Day 2015, during which seven grand-prize winners will be randomly drawn. Each of the seven grand-prize winners will receive dinner and a two-night stay at one of the following: Bavarian Inn, Shepherdstown; Blennerhassett Hotel, Parkersburg; Café Cimino Country Inn, Sutton; Canaan Valley Resort State Park, Davis; Four Points by Sheraton, Charleston; Lodging of your choice, Ohio County; or The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs. “I distinctly remember the first time I heard Wyatt Turner sing ‘You Remind Me of West Virginia’. I was so excited I shared it with the entire GoToWV Team the very next day. It was the inspiration for this contest,” Deputy Secretary of Commerce and Commissioner of Tourism Amy Shuler Goodwin said. “I personally invite you to share your photos and your stories—tell us why that special someone in your life reminds you of West Virginia.” Entries will be accepted beginning January 1, 2015 and until January 31, 2015 at FB/GoToWV. Contest participants are encouraged to share their entries with friends and family using the hashtag #YouRemindMeOfWV.
