WESTERN Derby rivalry could contribute to former Fremantle coach Mark Harvey being blocked in any move to join West Coast as an assistant. But it has emerged that Harvey, who coached Fremantle from late into the 2007 season until his ugly sacking in September two years ago, was not strongly considered. Influential Eagles powerbrokers are understood to have voiced heavy-duty objections to the appointment of a discarded Dockers coach. It is understood that it was considered by some Eagles insiders that appointing a dumped coach from their bitter local rival would reflect poorly on the West Coast brand image.
