WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MR NO EARS? AGA released the following statement on 19/9 Amigos dos Gatos do Algarve (Mr No Ears carers) removed Mr No Ears from his colony at the request of the Municipal Vet as a result of a complaint from the Rocamar Hotel. 20/9 Rocamar made this statement on their FB page (in response to posts from Mr No Ears FB friends) to their FB page about Mr No Ears Dear Guests We are now being accused of removing Mr No Ears in the surroundings of the Hotel, who did not care to inform and make us unjust accusations, here we leave the explanation. Mr No Ears was removed by a veterinarian of the City Hall, it was decided because it suffered from a disease that needed treatment (check if nearby still exist other cats!!!!!!) We had no intervention in the process because we have no authority to do so. We have the information that is being very well taken care of and treated and they expect to be adopted soon as it will always require veterinary treatment. We´re sorry that this situation has taken such great proportions and that the people involved have not even informed. 20/9 AGAs Lesley Normington posted this statement onto Rocamars FB post above Statement from Lesley Normington I am the President of Amigos dos Gatos do Algarve - AGA, who have been the daily feeders and carers of Mr No Ears - Sr. Sem Orelhas since he was born, almost 5 years ago. The events were as follows............. On Tuesday, the volunteer who has fed Mr No Ears every day of his life--- organised his castration and his cancer surgery----received a call from the Municipal Vet that CMA had received a complaint from Hotel Rocamar about cats and that Mr No Ears must be removed. On Thursday morning 8 am, the volunteer and the Municipal Vet tried to get Mr No Ears in a humane trap but did not succeed, Friday morning, the volunteer was successful. She removed him from the Rocamar Hotel., took him to a local vet for some treatment for his chronic skin condition and took him home with her I must point out that free living Community cats find it very stressful to have their freedom taken away....even for a short time. Trips to vet clinics are really stressful and treatment is given in situ--under vet guidance..whenever possible. Mr No Ears has been treated for flare-ups of his skin condition several times. With treatment, it clears up. But this time I don´t know why Rocamar complained to CMA. Rocamar could have contacted AGA---- our volunteer is easy to find at a regular time every morning . I tried to contact Rocamar PR manager on Thursday but he was not available. So Mr No Ears is not with the Municipal vet , although she did kindly offer to take him and treat him. Our volunteer is the one person he knows best and ,if he has to be in a strange place ..away from all he knows, he is better where he is than closed in a cage at a vet clinic. Mr No Ears is not a suitable cat for adoption .He. needs to stay where he belongs until his own health dictates that he needs to live indoors. That has always been our hope for for the much loved Lion King of Albufeira.... Ambassador for street cats around the world.
