WHAT IS FSI Floor space index (FSI) is the upper limit of construction expressed as ratio of the vacant land on which a structure is built. So if there is a 1,000 square feet plot with a FSI of 1, a building with usable area of 1,000 square feet can be constructed on it. If FSI is hiked to 2, the constructed area can be 2,000 sq ft. A hike in FSI allows creation of more real estate. This increases the supply theoretically bringing down the prices.
