WHAT TO DO WHEN SELF-HELP DOESNT HELP Have you ever gone through (or are maybe going through this right now!) a rough patch that feels like it will never end? And youve tried everything from... Meditating Yoga Chakra Clearing Chanting Praying Affirmations Subliminal Music Visualization Techniques Journaling Smudging Burning Incense Reading Self-Help Books Grounding Crystal Healing Energy Work Life Coach Sessions Psychotherapy Sessions Hypnosis Visiting A Psychic Watching ‘Super Soul Sunday’ Talking It Out Screaming Into A Pillow Crying…etc. And nothing seems to work? I have been there. COUNTLESS TIMES. I am a HUGE advocate for self-help, professional help and spiritual practices to assist us in growing, evolving and expanding. I recommend these tools to many of my clients. I practice many of them myself. And most times they DO work. But I will be the first to tell you that sometimes those self-help and spiritual practices dont. So what do you do when SELF-HELP doesnt help? NOTHING. Stop wishing it away. Stop wanting it to go. Stop wondering when you will feel better. Stop avoiding it. Stop trying to change anything. JUST BE. And breathe. Sink into it. Deeply. Feel it fully. Be with your pain. Be with the experience. No judgments. No stories. Embrace what is happening right now. Don’t let your obsession with finding relief keep you from relief. Just this past month I sat in the most frustration, worry and sadness I have felt in a LONG time. I had been going through a TON of change and transition since June. Everything came to a boiling point while I was on holiday in a small fishing village in Italy. None of my usual practices or techniques helped. I made a powerful (and seemingly contradictory) choice and chose to do NOTHING. I simply sat with and fully felt every emotion that came up. I focused on the physical sensation vs. the actual mental stories in my head. I didn’t judge or shame myself. I didn’t try to speed up the process and GET ON with my life. I dropped any expectation I had on trying to make my experience mean or be something that it wasn’t. It worked. I came out STRONGER, WISER, CLEARER & LIGHTER. And you can too. The pain and struggle youre experiencing is there for it to be felt through. Pushing it back down or trying to cover it up through taking action wont work long term. So instead of grasping at anything, try letting go of controlling everything. Breathe and bring some love, presence and awareness to your emotions. And see what happens.
