WHAT YOU HEAR IS CRITICAL I Daily Devotional 24th July “So the faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 What you hear is critical. The scripture says in the book of Romans 10:14.”How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?” Because you cannot believe what you did not hear, what you hear becomes very critical. So whom are you listening to? Where are you putting your ears? Who are your friends? Who do you associate with? Where are you found regularly? Are you found in the arena of the word of faith or are you found more with your peers out there? There is a popular saying that “show me your friends and I will tell you who you are”. You know why? It is because you are a product of words. What you hear will shape how you think and how you think will determine what you do. You cannot hang around unbelief and display faith. No matter how strong your word level is, if you hang around the wrong crowd, pretty soon, they will affect you. The Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God; in the same vein, fear comes by hearing and hearing by the word of the devil. If you fill your heart with what the devil is doing, fear will rule you and put you down. Where are you putting your ears? Where are you committed? Where and what is it that consumes your time? What are you hearing, what are you meditating on? Many people, and sad to say, even believers, seek after the wrong things when in actual fact; we should put our ears down for what God is saying. One of the things David had going well for him is that his ears were always close to the mouth of God. He was always seeking to know what God is saying, no wonder; he remains one of the most celebrated kings of Israel till today. I challenge you today, take heed what you hear.
