WHATS HAPPENING TO GODS CHURCH ? I am speaking here about the Church in general. No particular local body. Salvation is by grace through faith. However, exercising that saving faith and accepting that salvation brings you into a new life. What attracted us to this life giving, life changing experience is the Gospel. The word means good news. The central truth in the Gospel is ... God is holy ... we have been separated from God because of sin .... Jesus came and took our punishment so that we can be reconciled to God. Thats the simple truth of it ... but thats not all of the story. This story also talks about a life of service and commitment and sacrifice ... not to mention trials and tribulations. There is no Gospel without service, commitment, sacrifice, trials and tribulations. This Gospel never says that our life will become easy after we accept it. There is an old Country song entitled I never promised you a rose garden. With no disrespect intended thats what Jesus says to us ... but He did say that we would never be alone ... that He would never leave us nor forsake us. It might not seem like it ... but Jesus is always enough. Satan is a deceiver, a liar, an imposter and a lot of other things and he has crept into the Church. Not into the true Church for that he would have to be born again and that will never happen. What I mean is that he has weaseled his way into the institutional church and interjected a Gospel that does not contain the elements I mentioned above. There is no saving Gospel without a call to a life of service, sacrifice, humility and a lot of other traits that Jesus demonstrated. This new life that comes with salvation does a lot more than just prompt us to attend a Church service once a week. And by the way how did anyone get the idea that the Church is supposed to serve you. The Church just isnt doing anything for me Im just not getting what I need at this Church,Im not growing at this Church ... and it goes on and on and on. The Church was never intended to serve you. Its a place that teaches you how and gives you opportunities to serve. You might be thinking of course I want to serve God. The only way you can serve God is to serve others. What you get out of the Church is in direct proportion to what you put into it. And while were talking about it ... have you ever heard of Spiritual Pride. You can see that in the Church in people who think they are more spiritual than someone else. Only thing is that term is an oxymoron ... theres absolutely nothing spiritual about pride. Lets take a look at the Real Gospel ... well not just look at it .... lets get it back in the Church. Gods blessings to you ! Pastor Mike Barnett
