WHEN HEROES FALL: LESSONS FROM SAMSON: PART 6: THE GOD WHO LIFTS UP THE FALLEN A teaching on Samson would be incomplete, and its value reduced, if we leave God out of the picture. That would be stressing the law and omitting grace --a very Pharaseical approach to ministry. God knew in advance everything Samson would do in life; yet He made him a Nazarite from birth, blessed him with supernatural strength, and used him to deliver Israel from Philistine oppressors. O what a God we have! He chooses us and uses us in spite of our flaws, but lets not turn grace into a license to sin. Equally worth noting is the fact that the Lord never forsook Samson. It was Samson who sinned and stayed away. But, like the Father of the Prodigal Son, the Lord received Samson when he returned to Him. Samson prayed only twice in the entire drama, but God answered him both times. We may stray, slip and fall. But if we truly repent and return to Him, God will abundantly forgive us and restore us. Hes not willing that any should perish, nor does He take pleasure in the destruction of the wicked. IF MY PEOPLE, WHICH ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, SHALL HUMBLE THEMSELVES, AND PRAY, AND SEEK MY FACE, AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS; THEN WILL I HEAR FROM HEAVEN, AND WILL FORGIVE THEIR SIN, AND HEAL THEIR LAND. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
