WHY NOT? ~ Kevin West The piece consists of eight 17" fish made of hand applied concrete. The fish have a wood, wire mesh and metal core. Quickcrete™ was applied and shaped by hand then brightly painted. The fish are mounted on posts and should move together in the wind. A strong wind would be more effective. This pieces is strongly influenced by concrete artist Charles Macdonald. Kevin West, “I work mostly in wood, wire, and metal as those were the materials I have around. I like pieces that have movement and are powered by the wind. I would call myself a folk artist, haywire, mechanical, anything. I have had no formal training of any type and view making art as an adventure.”
