WHY OUR KIDS ARE STUPID..................... 1.) Phones: Take kids phones out of classrooms. This nonsense about if there is an emergency they cant be reached is absurd. Kids were reached in emergencies for over 200 years in this country before cell phones. Take the damn phones out of the classrooms. 2.) Stop pretending all kids need to know the square root of Pi. They dont. Institute the German schooling system. Send them to school for 13 years and after 10 years they go to either hard core college prep courses or trade schools in their own schools for 3 years. Not everyone is College material and not every job requires College but it would be nice to have an auto mechanic who actually knew how to work on a modern car. 3.) Go to year around school tracks. This nonsense about summer vacation is exactly that. People work year around and their vacations dont always fall at the same time. Year around school means a quarter of students are not in school at any given time. Classroom sizes fall and teachers have an opportunity to actually teach instead of playing wrangler to a herd of kids. 4.) Institute school uniforms. Everywhere that has done this, gang activity and violence drops, the social structure bullying drops and test scores go up. You can whine and snivel all you want about teachers and schools and govt. Nothing changes until people accept that schools jobs are to educate, not raise your kids for you.
