WIKES CAMPAIGN TRAIL HITS ABUA/ODUAL The #NEWRiversVision Campaign ship made a transit anchor at the Palace of HRM, King Kaleh Obuge (The Oda-Obuan of Abua Kingdom); navigating through the turbulent Orashi River. Soon after the exchange of pleasantries between Wikes entourage and the King, Chiefs and elders, discussion had barely started, sporadic gunshot sounds was heard from the rally ground. Party supporters and faithfuls became agitated. Report had it that some group of boys (name withheld), allegedly loyal to erstwhile council Chairman of Abolga was locked in a gun duel with the formidable security team attached to Wike which lasted for about 30 minutes. As a result, the resilient security team comprising of Mopol, Special Forces and the DSS swiftly repelled the attack which allegedly led to the death of about two of the assailants. However, as a Lion-hearted he is, not dampened by the incident, he led his entourage to County State School, Abua - venue of the rally and carried out his normal routine of walking majestically round the venue, greeting party faithfuls and stalwarts, reassuring them that the situation has been brought to normalcy. He did that acknowledging cheers with a wave of the hand, and by wearing a charming and infectious smiles radiating with a positive outlook. Hurriedly, an opening prayer was said by pastor Justice Amiofori. Recognition of important dignitaries by the Master of Ceremony, Kie Obomanu immediately followed suit. The Abolga PDP chairman, Mr. Optimist Ken Wariboko made his opening remark. In it, he welcomed Wike and his entourage to Abolga. He urged the people to massively support Wike and vote Wike/Banigo ticket as that would, according to him, usher in Peace, harmony, development and prosperity in Abolga. Consequently, solidarity speeches that was to come from a number of people of the LGA was reduced to one because supporters were still apprehensive. Hon. (Dr) Henry I. Ogiri, Executive Director Finance and Administration, NDDC, who also doubles as the leader of Abua/Odual PDP, mounted the podium to speak. Whilst doing that, he thanked the people for coming out enmasse to support Wike and the party. Speaking further, he said, no right thinking people of Abolga would vote the APC he promised to work with the elected members of the PDP in Abolga to make the place peaceful. He concluded by tasking the people to remain law abiding and peaceful in their conduct but warned that those do not want peace would be visited in equal measure. Shortly after the solidarity speech, Bro. Felix Obuah, the state party chairman was called to the podium to perform the ritual of handing flags to the PDP candidates contesting elections into various elective offices. He thanked the crowd and said: with the people here, and having heard your leaders spoken, its a done deal. Speaking further, he told the mammoth crowd: I thought I was coming to canvass for votes, little did I know that all the Abolga people have resolved to vote the PDP in all the elections. Issuing the partys flag, he called out Hon. (Mrs.) Betty Okagua-Apiafi and handed her that of House of Representatives to represent Abua-Odual/Ahoada East Federal Constituency. Hon. Marshall Uwom was given that of Abua/Odual Constituency, RSHA. The trio of Osinakachukwu Ideozu (Senate RWSD), Betty Okagua-Apiafi and Marshal Uwom condemned the violent act perpetrated by the hoodlums. Ideozu said: I see people, I dont see guns...P= Peace, D= Development and P= Prosperity in Abolga. On his part, Uwom decried the lack of developmental projects from the APC led government to the Abolga people. He also accused Governor Amaechi of neglect of his people for failing to replace him in the state executive council with another Abolga person after he voluntarily resigned from his government. Apiafi warned the hoodlums to desist forthwith from fermenting trouble. She concluded by saying enough is enough. However, a visibly charged Wike, who was pained by the sporadic shooting, accused the APC of reneging on the peace accord earlier reached by the leadership of several political parties in Abuja less than 24h ago. He likened ththe APC to a violent party that rejoices when theres a terrorist attack instead of supporting the Government in its resolve to quell insurgency in Nigeria. He warned that he and his party wouldnt be intimidated. He also urged the people to use their PVC wisely. Our PVC would speak for us and it would be used to give APC a red card. Wike who, speaking with confidence, fingered the current CTC chairman of Abolga to be behind the attack, promise to make him and his boys face justice. In a veiled attack to Governor Amaechi, he accused him of having abandoned his primary responsibility of protecting lives and properties for a campaign managers job. Informing the Abolga people what his government would do for them, he said: We shall restore peace to Abolga by protecting lives and properties speaking further, he promised to build a bridge that would connect Odual to Abua for easy movement of people and goods. He concluded by Promising to develop Agriculture in the LGA to a commercial and sustainable level, which in turn, would lead to employment of the teeming youths in the area. Complementing what her principal said, the Deputy-Governorship candidate, Dr. (Mrs) Banigo, added that theirs would be a Godfearing leadership. She asked the people to rejoice that the time for tears and sorrows are cover. Furthermore, she conclude by informing the Abolga people that Education, Good Health, Security and employment as well as restoration of Civil Service dignity to form the basis of Wike/Banigos government.
