WIN FOR RTI ACTIVIST The Vice President of Sikkim RTI Forum denied information and harassed by the Energy and Power department PIO. 1) The applicant was asked through letter to collect info from Gangtok with BR worth Rs 432. 2) Upon reaching the Gangtok with BR the applicant was directed to collect the info from Topakhani sub-division. 3) Upon reaching Topakhani ,the applicant again directed to collect info from Gangtok. And that reached the height ! We complaint to CIC citing all the incidents and on 12/06/2013, the CIC set the date for hearing. On hearing the CIC was so displeased with the attitude of officers and he took the matter as DENIAL of information to the applicant and willfull harassment by the PIO and passed the order. 1) The PIO denied information without cause. 2) The PIO was imposed penalty of Rs 5000. 3) The applicant suffered un due harassment for the information which in his right under the RTI act hence the Power and Energy Dept need to compensate applicant by paying him Rs 5000 for the time and mental harassment he had suffered. 4) The said information should be furnished free of cost.
