WINNING EACH DAY DEVOTIONAL 2 Cor 2:14 And thanks be to God who ALWAYS causes us to triumph... November 17, 2013 THE POWER OF WORDS II Proverbs 10:19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise. Theres a time to be silent and a time to speak out. Sometimes, being silent is better than uttering words because those words could end up leading us into trouble. It is especially important that we watch what we say when we are faced with challenges. This is because the tongue is a weapon and like every weapon, must be handled with care. Negative words have the ability to change Gods plans for our lives. 1 Peter 3:10 (MSG)-Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day fill up with good, Here’s what you do: Say nothing evil or hurtful; The tongue is more powerful than the gun because the gun can only destroy while the tongue can preserve as well as destroy. We are responsible for every word that proceeds from our mouths which means we are responsible for the things that remain alive and the things that are dead in our lives. It is time for us to learn that our tongues can only be conditioned not tamed. To condition your tongue, first immerse yourself in the word of God by reading and meditating on it until it stops being just letters and hits your spirit to become alive. When this happens, your mouth will speak that which is abundant in your heart - the word. Your words will be gracious and attractive so that you have the right answer at every point. You will begin to talk in such a way that people will always listen to you. CONFESSION: I am an instrument of Gods peace. People will see my words as a good gift to them in Jesus name. PRAYER: Lord help me condition my tongue to say the right thIngs. FURTHER STUDY: Matt 10:20, Luke 6:45 We celebrate you.
