WISDOMS FROM HADRAT IMAM-I MALIK • Some of the expressions with wisdom of Imam-I Malik, imam of Maliki Madhab: • Being poor and alim is better being wealthy and ignorant. • The one, who self praises, decreases his own value and esteem. • People who demand to learn ilim should have dignity. • One should avoid hanging together with the disgracefull people. • The ones with bad akhlak (manners), despite they seem to be at the side of truth (suret-I hak), they are known as bad among the people. • Success in the goodness is happiness. • One should learn decency before ilim (knowledge) • If one does not benefit for himself, he does not benefit for the others. • It is not jaiz (permissible) to speak ill about Ashab of Rasulullah. • “If I had the power, I would beat the one who interpret Qur’an-i Karim according to their own opinions.” • He was asked, “O ye imam, why does the mankind likes truthfull friend more than his relatives?”. He answered “Relative is close bodily, truthfull friend is close spiritually.” BEING PRUDENT Being precautious involves being cautious about the possible need for or occurence of something. Some scholars define is as being moderate in both love and hatred. We can learn the importance of taking precaution from the bling as they walk their way by checking it with their sticks. In case of the blind, a lack of precaution may make them fall into the mud and get dirty, yet this can be cleaned. However, the lack of precaution in the stuff related to the religion and world can hardly be cleaned. So, we had better be tentative in any sphere of life. No matter how slow cautious people seem to be, they reach their goal earlier than the incautious people. On the other hand, we aren’t required to rely on everyone. That’s to say, we need to be careful about giving an important task/ job to someone although he may be said to be so good at it because we had better make sure that he is capable of doing it.
