WORLD DAY AGAINST DEATH PENALTY PRESS RELEASE On the occasion of the World Day Against Death Penalty on October 10th, the Alliance Française SVG will be hosting a screening of the documentary “Honk (to stop executions)” by Arnaud Gaillard & Florent Vassault (In English with French subtitles) on Monday October 13th at 5:30pm. “At the heart of the United States, Curtis, Golda and Veldean are faced with the absurdity and violence of the death penalty. Meanwhile in Huntsville, a small town in Texas, executions punctuate everyday life.” (Teaser: youtube/watch?v=LNAgqWQ8PhM) The event is organized in collaboration with the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Human Rights Association and the 68 minutes movie will be followed by a debate. Governments, Human Rights associations and people have been making clear their opposition to the death penalty as a form of punishment, believing that its use undermines human dignity, however, the capital sanction is still legal and applied in many countries over the world. The Alliance Française SVG and the SVG Human Rights Association invite you along to this free event, which we hope will provide a frank and lively debate on the issues surrounding the death penalty.
