WOW: Andrew Nasonov, a Russian LGBT rights activist, suffered harassment, intimidation, savage beatings, abduction by police, and death threats -- all because of his pro-equality work. His boyfriend Igor lost his teaching job when their relationship was publicized. Andrew and Igor now live in Washington, D.C. and are seeking asylum in the United States. On July 4, they were able to hold hands in public for the first time without fear of condemnation, arrest, or assault. They wept with joy. Shame on Russia for treating LGBT people this way, and thanks to Russian LGBT activists like Andrew and Igor for showing the world what courage really looks like!!
