WOW!!! The inaugural Mid-Atlantic Marathon and Half Marathon Series was great fun. Why was it a fantastic five days? The runners of course. For five days a super group of runners stepped to the start line and had fun running some outstanding trails. Every finish was rewarded with a quality finisher award. A number of runners recorded their first marathon or half marathon finish!!! Heather, John, and Vincent completed all five events!!! Great thanks to Mikes parents Carl and Pat for staffing an aid station all five race days. Thanks also goes out to the Meyersdale Historical Society, the Great Allegheny Passage/Allegheny Trail Alliance, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park, and the parks and recreation/public safety departments of Somerset, Mineral, Allegany, and Fairfax Counties. Altis (Frank and Mike) are very excited about having even more fun with runners at the second annual Mid-Atlantic Marathon and Half Marathon Series initially being planned for four events all in the Frostburg area so that runners can stay in the same hotel for all four races that will be held in PA, WV, MD, and MD again. The initial plan is to conduct the races on Thursday to Sunday September 24-27, 2015. Yes, Altis plans to split off the Washington DC area C&O Canal Towpath and Cross County Trail races into stand alone events instead of including them in a series again. Altis will get to work immediately to make the 2015 series as much fun as possible!
