WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! Tonight we did the spoken words Gods proud as we EVOLVED OUR LINEAGE through going into the great discovery that was THE JAM SLAM STRIPPED BACK! Every single poet, musician, Slama crew member, first timers and omega regulars brought their fire tonight as we told winter to shuv it with our hot flames of words and melodies! There is so much to recap and a gazillion highlights from Meena and Natalies spine tingling opening, Kate and Kylies synchronicity via djembe and personal manifesto, Liam and Andrews powerful violin looping rhymes to the sassy Randi Janelles slick slideshow poetry... it just got better and better as the night went on. Joel Mckerrow and Baby Aidan Little Fire setting up such delight as co-hosts, Open the Circle Session workshop alumni Phara stunned us with a powerful piece for Palestine while Michelle and Freyas Ladyspoon meets thumb piano tines capped off the slam before Morganics brought hip hop free-styling craft and integrity as his passport straight into our charmed and elated noggins! WHOAH! It was Griffin backed by Morganics beat boxing that took the prize so we can all look forward to hearing that brilliant piece again on August 2nd on Fresh Produce on PBS Radio! Let us always remember the IMMUNITY we collectively create as a COMMUNITY every single month! Thank you to all the Poets and to all the Musos who with patience and dedication supported one another so refreshingly. Thank you to Meena Shamaly for stepping up the way you did this month brother- your talents and pure love for the jam has truly blessed us all. Thank you to Terry Stevens for three years of unstoppable support through the sound desk and behind the scenes. Thank you to Jacky T for planting the seeds for this muso/poet format and giving much water to help the seeds sprout. Thank you to Freya for the kind of help that is simply beyond this world-angelic. Katie Parker for always holding it down for the Love Swamp. Thank you to you- for being with us until the end of the night when the hugs and collaborative medicine became more important than the pack down or sleep.
