WOW... and another WOW.... I took my Dad to see The Moscow Ballets Great Russian Nutcracker and was mesmerized. The set and costumes took me back to the years Id go see The Cleveland Ballet do this performance. Last night the costumes with their vibrant colors and variety of fabric showcased the costumes themselves and the dancers in them were stunning, you never heard their feet touch the ground. (my first noticeable difference between American ballet and Russian ballet). The ballet auditions local children to perform the children parts and they were wonderful. There was one particular girl performing as a boy guest at the opening party who was a delight - she was thoroughly enjoying her experience and danced wonderful. She has blonde hair pulled tight into a neat bun and wore glasses. They were Audrianna, Victoria, Katie, Sadie, Katerina, and Kate. Wonderful (all of them). Act II brought the French dance and with it butterflies that danced with their rolling sheep. I never even watched the main dancers these two stole during that performance. The one stage right (audience left) petted her sheep very well and her lipstick was so pronounced it looked like it she did it herself. She was so very happy - She was Caroline or Adriana. I loved them. Then came the Dove of Peace dance later followed by the Arabian dance (shown below). Sergey Chumakov and Elena Petrichenko have been dancing for the Moscow Ballet for 20 years. Hes 40! Oh My Gosh! Can you give a standing ovation in the middle of a show??? They got the loudest applause immediate after and then again at curtain call. Phenomenal !!! I will go to this companys Nutcracker any and every time it is in my city and I highly recommend you seeing it for yourself. Amazing!
