WRAP-UP OF WEEK 12 MATCHES PLAYED ON SATURDAY Festus Mbewe scored a hatrick as Nkana brushed aside Konkola Blades with a 4-2 victory in a week 12 match played at Nkana Stadium on Saturday. Mbewe gave Nkana an early lead from long range in the 12th minute, only for his team-mate defender Donashano Malama to bring the visitors level with an own goal in the 39th minute. Francis Simwanza added a second for Blades ten minutes after the break but Ronald Kambamba and Festus Mbewe responded with goals in the 66th and 68th minutes respectively. Mbewe completed his hat trick from the penalty spot in the 90th minute after Kerry Sichilya handled the ball in the box. The result means Nkana’s lead the league standings with 29 points while Konkola Blades have not won in their previous four matches and remain in 16 points. At Musa Kasonka Stadium in Ndola, Zesco United maintainted second position on the standings as they thrashed Lime Hotspurs 4 – 0 to keep pace with Nkana at the top. Maybin Mwaba bagged a brace while Lottie Phiri and Winston Kalengo scored a goal each. The loss resulted in Lime Hotspurs dropping to the bottom of the table. In Chililabombwe, two quick fire goals scored in the opening seven minutes by Kabaso Chongo and Chipulu Chileya gave Konkola Mine Police all three points in a 2 – 1 win over Power Dynamos. Govenda Simwala scored Power’s goal from the penalty spot. And in Chingola, Bonwell Mwape scored in the second minute to give Nchanga Rangers a 1 – 0 victory over Kabwe Warriors. Alex Ng’onga provided the assist. The win took Rangers into third spot with 20 points. In the day’s early kick off Zanaco defeated Nkwazi 3 -1 at Sunset Stadium. Davies Mwape scored on either side of Henry Banda’s goal while Chipungu Musukuma scored the consolation goal for Nkwazi. Elsewhere Kalulushi Modern Stars played to a goalless draw against Roan United. The match between Forest Rangers and Napsa Stars also ended goalless.
