WRITE TO HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANISATIONS TO SEEK THE RELEASE OF SHAYKH NASIR AL FAHD Assalamualaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu my dear brothers and sisters. May Allah reward all those who took part in the Twitter Storm last week. Alhamdulilla, many from around the world joined in the noble task of seeking the release of the prisoner and Alhamdulilla the Storm continued with great force and vitality throughout the night, may Allah grant you all reward in every single letter in every Tweet sent in this cause. It is refreshing to see that despite the obstacles that the Ummah faces today there are still many brothers and sisters around the world who stand up for the weak and oppressed in this Ummah. I ask Allah subhana wa ta’aala to grant you all the best in this life and the akhirah. As we stated at the outset of the campaign we will be utilising various different means to seeking the release of Shaykh Nasir al Fahd and one such method that we will now seek to implement is to raise awareness of the plight of Shaykh Nasir al Fahd by writing to Human Rights Organsiations such as Amnesty International, Islamic Human Rights Commission, Human Rights Watch etc. We have drafted a template email/letter (see below) that can be sent to either of the organisations mentioned above. The template can be amended or edited if you wish to add any further information, please keep to the theme of the campaign and do not use insult and/or abuse. Click on the following links which will take you to the relevant Human Rights Organisations where you can copy and paste the template email; amnesty.org/en/contact [email protected] (Human Rights Watch) [email protected] (Islamic Human Rights Commission) TEMPLATE EMAIL I am writing to you in relation to the plight of a prisoner in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The name of the prisoner is Mr Nasir Al Fahd and he has been held in prison for 10 years without charge. Mr Nasir Al Fahd was arrested in May 2003 and I understand that he is currently being held at Al Hayer Prison in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In clear contravention of Article 3 of the Human Rights Act 1998 he has been subjected to Inhuman and Degrading Treatment. There have been many reliable reports that Mr Al Fahd has been subjected to mental and physical torture on several occasions throughout his decade of detention and there are many consistent reports that such torture is currently ongoing. Mr Al Fahd is also forced to endure long periods of solitary detention and is denied basic medical treatment for severe illnesses and ailments that he continues to suffer from. In addition to Article 3, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is also in breach of Article 5, Article 6 and Article 7. Nasir Al Fahd’s arrest was unlawful, he has never been rightfully charged, he has never received a fair trial and therefore his continued detention is wholly unlawful and his immediate release should be sought. I request that without any delay, an urgent investigation into this matter be conducted and subsequently Mr Al Fahd’s release from prison be sought. I hope that Mr Al Fahd’s release is imminent however in the interim and due to his deteriorating health, it should be a priority that Mr Al Fahd is provided with urgent medical assistance and the necessary medication to alleviate his symptoms that have not yet been identified due to the denial of basic medical advice. Kindly acknowledge receipt of my email and by return I also look forward to hearing from you with confirmation that an investigation into this matter is now underway.
