****WTF ALERT! **** Yes, I said WTF Alert...because this is so wrong on so many levels, the first thing I thought was WTF!?! Last night, I got a call from a local vet who knows I work with senior/special needs cats. An owner brought in Bella, a 15 YEAR OLD cat...said it wasnt eating and was drinking a lot of water. The vet ran blood work that showed the kitty was diabetic. So the owner said EUTHANIZE her, despite the fact that she was otherwise a gorgeous, well-mannered, healthy cat. BUT WAIT....it gets WORSE!! When asked if they wanted to be with the kitty while they put her to sleep, owner said Nah, just go ahead and do it. AND LEFT. Just like that. Poof, out the door, BYE BYE not a tear in the eye, C-ya cat...after 15 YEARS. Being the awesome vet that he is, my vet was troubled at the thought of killing this cat....so they contacted me and wanted to know if I could find a foster or an adopter. Im going to speak with the vet shortly to determine Bellas medical needs and the cost of her insulin. She did receive a shot this morning and was FINE with getting the shot, so medicating her will not be difficult. I know this is going to be a tough case but Bella needs a foster or an adopter...she did not deserve to be abandoned without a second thought...I will be willing to temporarily foster if an adopter is found.
