WWWEEEEEE! Had a great ride on Eow today :) Jo and I decided to stress test the girls a little and see what shape they were in, since both had some time off. Guess they are in great shape still...did the 6hr loop at Orick in 3 hrs! (moving time..I actually remembered to stop and start the GPS at lunch) :) We trotted most everything we could, got off and jogged (horses light trotted in hand) the long downhills, and had a few fun canters too. Did a fake vet check with CRIs at the midpoint and finish.. Eow was 40/44 at the finish, after 20 mins of resting and eating at the trailer. Time to go ride another 50 with her I think! :) Footing up in Orick is to die for right now...dry as a bone, so no slip-n-slide like it often is. You can really have FUN! GPS missed a bunch as usual, both in speed and distance..the loop is prob about 18 miles (I get 14.2-15.9 on the GPS, depending on the day..same route always) and drops signal a lot in the canyons and cuts a lot of the switchbacks too.. So we prob averaged about 6mph today...much better than my usual 4.-something..
