Walk for Women March Saturday 6th July 2013 12pm * MANORS METRO TO CITY LIBRARY Via Heaton Park* Today, all British citizens over the age of eighteen share a fundamental human right: the right to vote and to have a voice in the democratic process. But this right is only the result of a hard fought battle. The suffrage campaigners of the nineteenth and early twentieth century struggled against opposition from both parliament and the general public to eventually gain the vote for the entire British population in 1928. In 1913, 50,000 women marched to London to demonstrate their belief in their right to vote. In July 2013 people all over Britain are marching to show their gratitude and respect for these sisters. Please join us on 6th July at Manors Metro as we all (women. men, children, EVERYONE) walk to Newcastle upon Tyne to celebrate the bravery of those wonderful women.
