Walk on the waves About three o’clock in the morning Jesus - TopicsExpress

Walk on the waves About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!” But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here! ” Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?” When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped. (Matthew 14:25-32) There are a few truths that I want to point out in this passage. The first being that of the boat. The disciples were in the boat during a storm. They were safe from the elements of the world. I want you to see the boat as the church. Though we are not forsake the assembling together to exhort one another but its not so that you can be feed a glutinous meal to survive the week. He is our daily bread. So many people today attribute their salvation to church and not relationship with Christ. They need it to survive their week not knowing that Jesus will walk on the water with them. You are more then conquers. Second is the winds and waves. These are the trials of this life. We often find our true character in these moments. Paul says that God tests the hearts of men. The water is this life. The wind is the adversity of the enemy manipulating this elements of this life. So many people walk into church every week as if they escaped with their very life holding onto the boat church for their salvation. Today is the day if salvation. I look to Him everyday through adversity to pour out grace upon my need and to strengthen me in every weakness. Do not be like the waves being tossed in ever direction. Christ has called you to walk on the waves. Third is Jesus. Where is Jesus? Walking on the waves! He is literally walking on adversity. Jesus came to this world and defied the laws of this world putting away the flesh and walking in His spirit. Where so many men fell into sin Christ walk through the temptation without sin. He had the authority to speak peace to the storm but He had no need to because in Him was peace. He was not worried for one moment of death because He is resurrection and life. He walked on what man feared. Fourth is Peter called out upon the water. I first would like to say that Jesus did not call Peter by name but it was an open invitation for all the disciples. But lets return to Peter walking on water, the one thing that jumps to mind to me is that Christ did not calm the storm before He called out to Peter. Many I know would jump out of the boat to walk on calm water after all Peter looking unto Christ had no problem walking on the water until he saw the winds and the waves. I see that many times the reality of this world drowns out the reality of heaven touching earth. Peter was manifesting Gods kingdom in that moment. This world was Peters domain at that moment when the kingdom of God was at hand. When we change our perception of who are Father is and who we are in Him we will find that I dont need church to survive the world but He who is in me is grater then the world. The wind and waves still know His name. Jesus wants to manifest in the boat church and outside in the world. Dont fear the trials of this life but embrace them. God is exposing your heart and revealing your unbelief. He is strengthening you and He will never put more on you then you can bare. When Peter began to sink The Lord pulled Him out and they walked back to the boat. Your spiritual family is there to encourage you in your weakness. But your strength comes from Jesus. He is the author and finisher of your faith. I will leave you with the wisdom of Solomon: The refining pot is for silver and the furnace is for gold, but The Lord test the hearts
