“Walking In Fellowship” Part 2 Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. 8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. Eph 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. Yesterday we looked at I John 1, and found that out the blessings of walking in the light gives us fellowship with God for Jesus Christ is the ‘light of the world.’ The Bible gives us instruction of whom to walk or have fellowship with while on this earth. Every day we have to walk in this world and do business with people that do not know about Jesus Christ and are practicing sin in their lives. Going to the grocery store or gas station, we may encounter sinners that know sin only but we don’t have sweet fellowship with them because they are not saved. It is vital that they receive our love for their souls with a gospel or a witness of some sort. However, they are not a part of our everyday lives in terms of fellowship. The Bible is clear about the this fellowship because it would be unfruitful not just for us but for the Lord in our lives. When we hob-knob with sin, we find that those evil works could rub off on us. Apostle Paul reveals some more truth upon this matter. 2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. The questions are very clear here in this text as to who the ones are that we should or should not have fellowship with. Notice what the unequally yoked term is saying. Deu 22:10 Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. Not much plowing can be done with stubbornness or rebellion against God. To partner with a person going in another direction is futile. So God gives us His wisdom and reveals to us who to separate from. Psalm 1, also gives us instruction to walk not in the counsel of the ungodly. Put proper people in your lives that will sharpen the spiritual man inside you today. Be careful to take heed from the unfruitful works or workers of darkness. Just reprove them with your life in Christ.
