Want GREEN JOBS - ENDORSE THE 21st Century CCC ACT! We wont have a society if we destroy the environment. I want generations that follow to see that we used this moment to encourage a 21st century Civilian Conservation Corps for our young people. The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others. Dr Albert Schweitzer US Civilian Conservation Corps would propel the United States into leading the Globe in the conservation of natural resources and saving the environment. The CCC template can be adapted by all nations! Our young Americans need actual on the job training and real work experience for future employment in the public and private sectors. They all will have the added benefit of an experience of fun, travel, and adventure. We would teach sustainability and create stewards of our earth and waters. The CCC could be a National Service, all-public sector program. The 20th Century Civilian Conservation Corps under the Roosevelt Administration was in existence for nine and a half years from March 1933 to June 1942 and was the largest and most lasting environmental effort in US history. The CCC demonstrated that no conflict existed between the preservation of the environment and the creation of jobs. The CCC planted an estimated 4 billion trees, to the development of over 800 state parks for recreation. President Roosevelt said in 1933, We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build them for the future! The 21st Century CCC would put American’s to work on jobs that really need to be done, saving our environment and building national assets for future generations. * Many American Citizens are one paycheck away from being HOMELESS! * Todays youth are struggling and many are leading lives of quiet desperation! * Our unskilled youth and war veterans need dignity in work. The CCC would be an all public sector program and be a viable solution for creating Green Jobs for more bang for our BUCK!
