Want to know what local river monitors are doing in the Delaware River? Learn to be a River Monitor: Saturday Nov. 9th 8:30 am-4 Delaware Youth Center (Callicoon) FROM the Sierra organizers of the workshop: Jessica Helm and I volunteer with the New York Water Sentinels, an affiliate of the Sierra Club. Roger Downs of the Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter suggested we get in touch with you. We are a volunteer organization established in the fall of 2011 with the objective of creating a network of volunteers throughout New York to collect baseline stream water quality data. To date we have over 100 people testing approximately 75 sites across the southern tier of New York, with over 1400 observations (stream visits with data collection) recorded in our database. We are organizing our sixth training workshop in Callicoon, NY, cosponsored by Delaware Riverkeeper Network, Damascus Citizens for Sustainability and Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM). Our objective is to grow the network of volunteer water quality monitors in Delaware and Sullivan counties. I have attached an announcement flier with the details of the workshop, and hope that you will pass it on to parties that may be interested in joining us. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Regards, Arthur Kuypers NY Water Sentinels Bernie Handler who has been doing water testing for 4 years, with the Delaware Riverkeeper, will be there to assist.
