Wapello Fire and Rescue would like to take this opportunity to thank those that assisted with preparations and the smooth operation of todays activities for Retired Firefighter, Randy Tillmann. When we received word of Randys passing, plans immediately were in motion to honor one of our own in the way that he would have wanted. We would like to thank those that assisted us. Thank you to Gary Spitznogle, for getting the 1919 American LaFrance running so that we could let Randy ride on his favorite truck one last time, we knew that he would have wanted this and you made it happen. Thanks also to Mike Delzell and Shawn Maine for your assistance on Saturday in preparing the 1919 American LaFrance for today. Thank you to the Iowa Firefighters Association for the use of the funeral bunting, to the Wapello Police Department for traffic control today and assistance in getting the procession onto the highway safely, to the Morning Sun Fire Department and the Oakville Fire & Rescue for bringing apparatus to help in the procession, and to Staci Griffin for snapping the pictures for us. Thanks to the Tillmann family for allowing us to honor Randy in any way that we saw fit, it was such an honor to send him home the way he would have wanted. Finally to our own members and their families, we spent quite a few hours in preparation mode for todays services. Your willingness to lend a hand where it was needed and for the sacrifices that were made by your families to allow the preparation to take place was not overlooked, we very much appreciate everyone that had a part, big or small in todays ceremony. We will miss Randy but his legacy will live on within our department for a long time due to the lives he touched in the department and within the community. Sincerely, The Officers and Members Wapello Fire and Rescue
