#Warbird Profile: Chip Off the Old Block VBairshow The Military Aviation Museums de Havilland of Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk was the two-seat primary trainer that succeeded the stalwart de Havilland Tiger Moth. First flown in 1946 Chipmunks were operated by Great Britain and the Dominion of Canada, among many others. Today more than 500 “Chippies” remain in airworthy condition. Built in 1952 the MAMs DHC-1 was first assigned to RAF College Cranwell, where she flew until 1957. The Chipmunk shall leap skyward at the next #Warbirds Over the Beach, from 16-18 May, 2014.
