Warning: Deep and Meaningfuls about to ensue... One of the hardest things about what I do isnt the long hours of paint correction or continually looking for ways to improve aspects of my service. Thats the fun stuff for me. Im oddly wired that way :). The single hardest thing about putting my heart and soul into a detail, is watching the car drive off and not knowing what it will look like in six months time. The realisation that once it leaves your care, you no longer have any control over how it looks from that point on. Some have heard me joke that once I work for you I then take on part-ownership of your car ;). It is in jest of course, but it does go a little way toward understanding the....gravitas.... with which I approach my work. Call it obsessive, call it needlessly serious, call it whatever you will, I make no apologies :) Im very fortunate that the vast majority of my clients are keen to keep maintaining their cars after Ive worked on them. I see it as very much a reflection of what I do that people discover, or sometimes re-discover, a love for their cars when they see them for the first time after a detail. I see it on their faces as they walk around the car and theres no bigger buzz for me than to walk around with them and experience that with them. But again, once they leave, all bets are off. I understand this and have somewhat reluctantly come to terms with it ;) Every once in a while though you get the opportunity to have a car come back several months (or longer) after youve worked on it and you get to see how theyve been maintained in the meantime. Sometimes it is an opportunity to pass on tips about how to perhaps better look after certain areas. Sometimes though, I am completely blown away by the level of perfection to which a lovingly detailed car has been cared for in the space of time between visits. The photos below highlight such an experience yesterday. This R35 GTR was detailed and Opti-Coated by me about 8 months ago. It came back because the owner wanted an upgrade to Opti-Coat Pro+. Many people who know the R35 know that its paint can be very soft and finicky to polish, and even with Opti-Coat, it can be a challenge to maintain without swirling up the paint. It is simply one of the most difficult paints to manage on a modern car. I cannot begin to describe the sense of pride I had when, after washing and drying the car I examined it and could not find a single swirl in the paint. The owner has done an absolutely sensation job of looking after the car and it is, without exaggeration, in as good condition now as it was when it left my garage 8 months ago. Thank you Frank. You made my day mate :). Cheers, Dan (not at all obsessive) Neubronner
