Was appalled at a store recently to see shrimp sold as gulf raised and catfish as delta raised. This is a READ THE LABEL alert. The shrimp was not from the Gulf of Mexico but from the Gulf of Tonkin (coast of Vietnam) and the Delta catfish; not Mississippi or Arkansas Delta but Mekong Delta, again Vietnam. Then to add insult, not even catfish but swai otherwise known as basa. Check the link below for more info. Also know that restaurants can say catfish on the menu and still serve you swai or basa, it is much cheaper. If this matters to you ask your restaurant where their catfish comes from and support US catfish growers. We serve only US grown catfish at the TownHouse Cafe. I know Bobby at Papa Genes does as well. If there are other local eateries that serve only US REAL Catfish let us know. Be informed, know whats on your plate.
