Was brought up.....in interesting resolution so a scammer cant use the webcam on you. I had this happen recently, they surprised me and caught me off guard. I taped a piece of paper over the lens, but I also turned my computer desk around and placed it in the corner. The only thing they would catch behind me are two walls (at the corner). Scammers are very deceptive when they use the webcam. I had one,quickly place still photos in front of the lens and change it, so as to illustrate some type of movement. The picture wasnt even of the guy I was talking to all along (which was a stolen photo anyway). Avoid using the webcam until you are in control of the situation.
